Many of us will surely agree that one of the scariest places we would want to be are cemeteries, isn’t? We often hear creepy stories about lost souls, ghosts, and other supernatural creatures that are wondering in cemeteries even before our younger years. But would you believe that there are some places and some popular malls in Metro Manila which used to be cemeteries several years ago! Here are some of them:


Star Mall Alabang is one of the nine Starmall locations in the Philippines. It is located in Alabang, Muntinlupa City. The five-storey shopping mall was built back in the 1990s, the place where it stands used to be the “Alabang Cemetery”. It is a chain of shopping malls which are developed and operated by Starmalls Inc., it is a subsidiary of former Philippine Senator and the president of the Nacionalista Party, Manuel Villar’s listed property holding firm Vista Malls and Lifescapes Inc. Manuel "Manny" Bamba Villar Jr. is a 69-year-old Filipino billionaire businessman. He was born to a middle-class family in Tondo, an impoverished and densely populated district of Manila.





PLAZA CRISTO REY This place is situated in Poblacion, Makati City. It has been known to the public because Plaza Cristo Rey is a hangout place for hip and cool youngsters. Despite the fact that it already has a lot of establishments around it like restaurants, pubs, and nightclubs, not so many people knew that the place where it stands was actually the “San Pedro de Makati Cemetery” before.


Harrison Plaza is one of the country’s first commercial shopping malls back in 1976. It is located in Malate, Manila.  According to some reports, there was actually an “Ermita Cemetery” located in the Fort de San Antonio Abad before the Harrison Plaza was constructed in the place.


Remedios Circle used to be the former Malate Cemetery. It is located in Malate, Manila. Based on some reports, it has been damaged before , the human remains of the Malate Cemetery were transferred to the Manila South Cemetery. Today, it already has a lot of restaurants and commercial establishments in the area.
